GC Nationals Handicap Doubles and Singles

Entries are now open for the National GC Handicap Doubles and Singles, from September 30 to October 4, 2019. To be held at Twin City Croquet Club and the Albury Tennis Association, Albury NSW. Entries close on September 12. Click here for more details.

GC Mixed Doubles Results

Kay Chynoweth of Geraldton and Chris McWhirter of Forrest Park were the winners of the GC State Mixed Doubles. This is the first time either player has won this event.

The runners-up were Joyce Carbone of Gosnells and Peter Pekaar of Como, an established doubles pair making their first appearance in a major final.

GC Bronze Medal Results

The Croquetwest ACA GC Bronze Medal, played at Cambridge, was won by Brett McHardy, his second time as winner of this event. Brett snuck past Forrest Park clubmate Torben Bak by 6 net points, with the winner not decided until the last game of the last match, when Torben was defeated 7-5 by Martin Clarke. This is a repeat of last years top two positions, although this time much closer. Click here for the match details.

In conjunction with this event Croquetwest launched the inaugural Selectors 6 Invitational event. In another tight, lead changing affair, this was won by the tournament manager Matthew Whitfield of the home club, one match clear of Kim Reynolds (Bunbury Central). Click here for the results.

GC Men’s and Women’s Singles Venue Change

The GC Men’s and Women’s Singles, to be held on the 13th and 14th July, has now been confirmed as being hosted at the Moorabinda Croquet Club in Bunbury. The flyers for the events will be issued shortly.

GC Singles Results

Played at Como and Nedlands with a big entry and a new format featuring blocks, best of three finals and a double round robin plate, the GC Open Singles has been won for this year by Torben Bak. This is Torben’s first win in this event. Forrest Park had 5 of the top 6 placegetters. Click here for all the results.

GC State Open Singles Programme

The GC State Open Singles will be played over three days this weekend.   It has attracted 22 entrants and will be played at two venues, Como and Nedlands.

Quarter-Final, Semi-Final, and Final matches will all be best-of-three games; and will be held at Como.  The quarter-finals on Sunday afternoon, the semi-finals on Monday morning, and the final on Monday afternoon. Click here for the draw.

GC and AC Results Over 4 Days

AC Ida Thorpe was won by Ian Dumergue – Forrest Park, for the 4th time.

AC City Team of Basil Ladyman – Cambridge , Helen Eagle – Nedlands, Megan Fardon – East Fremantle, Carmel Hodges – Gosnells, John Doepel and Michael Murphy – both Forrest Park defeated the AC Country team.
GC Country Weekend Results: A Grade – Denis Bull – York, B Grade – Robyn Dart – Busselton, C Grade – Bob James – Moorabinda, D Grade – Darcy DeVries – Geraldton, Winning Team – Denis Bull, Helen Amyes, Dan Ryan –  York, Player of the Tournament – Helen Amyes – York.

GC Country Results

Congratulations to the following Grade Winners and Runners-ups. A-Grade Winner:  Denis Bull from York; Runner-up:  Gary Phipps from Moorabinda.
B-Grade Winner:  Robyn Dart from Busselton; Runner-up:  Lyn McPharlin from Narrogin C-Grade Winner:  Bob James  from Moorabinda; Runner-up:  Helen Aymes from York D-Grade Winner:  Darcy DeVries from Geraldton; Runner-up:  Dianne Bower  from Busselton This was the first event for Bob and for Darcy, who is aged 14.  Champion Player was Helen Aymes, who won nine of her ten games.  Denis Bull was the Runner-up. The Champion club was York, which won 20 of its 25 games against other clubs.
